Problems with image viewer suddenly + updating products impossible! Should I stop using Prestashop?

Recommended Posts

I invested a lot of money into a theme and the Prestashop software yesterday. I grew into how to use the software a bit and tweaked everything so far. I started adding my first products - looked good so far!

However, this software is allready taking a lot of time and stress - when changing settings in a product page or adding a new product it just won't save the settings often. Why??

Second huge problem is now that suddenly without any reasson the image viewer in the products pages won't work anymore, you cannot click on images anymore. And when switching in the setting to the Jqzoom option also nothing happens, by clicking the image it's webadres opens, it just leaves the product page! And no I have all the settings right!

Out of nothing the whole site and shop is useless and not workable anymore, How can I trust this software if it is this unstable from a fresh start? I want to add hundreds of items onto this webshop,it is already almost impossible to add products fast, because youll never know if your procuct will safe or not.

Can someone tell me If i should stop using Prestashop or not? I don't want to take risks, there is allready so much stress around this software that I just can't believe it will ever be stable!

I am curious if there are people here who lost hundreds hours of work because of the unstability of this software.

Thanks for understanding these frustrations, and hopefully someone can share their experiences and support.

problems that you've got usually depends on context

as a developer that spent a lot of time with prestashop, its configuration, debugging i can say that usually problems with save is related to:

- poor hosting that does not allow to save a lot of informations in database (while you save product it posts many variables to db)

- modules that generates troubles "in background" while you save product details (do you use some custom non-default modules that are included to product edit page?)

In case of problems with front office features like zoom - they are usually related to javascript errors that come from non-default modules - this case needs inspection of product page.Usually problem can be generated even with one javascript error that is a part of other module not related to zoom feature. For example, if you've got some custom module on product page, and if this custom module generates js errors - all other scripts may not work properly. Because of this, case needs inspection.

Share the url to your product page i can take a look on it.

so at the end, i want to say that problems you've got are not related to prestashop itself, but to environment and modules that you use. This is most common scenario here.

I bought the official Prestashop partner theme ''Selling Books'', see Below;

http://www.templatemonster.com/prestashop-themes/51906.html

I can host up to 128mb in many settings on my server, I hosted new space at the server at my provider which I now for over seven years, it is a good provider. I am developing myself with videogame engines and am familair with frustrations, (Ue4 engine is a good example). But on the other hand, when I finally have a bit more control i am thankfull this software exists.

But to get forward, mayby you can help on another question

I have worked today 8 hours non-stop trying to remove the ''Quantity buttons'' in the ''Selling book's'' template.

I commented away and deleted Plus & min button/quantity data in the Product.tpl, or shopping_cart_product.tpl etcetera, even experimented with css and Js files where I traced information about the plus and minus buttons See image:

delete_button.jpg

I just don't understand, I found Prestashop forum posts from years sgo from people complaining about how to delete the quantity tab, why is this option still not embedded as standard option? I sell unique antiquarian books of which I will never have more then one item each. But now another problem has started.

I created backups all the time of the files i edited, so i repaired every file back to how they where, but now the checkout from the cart is a dead link, so even after repairing files something starts to break. Now I need to install the whole webshop again, delete everything again zero progress.

my website is konstler.com  please help me remove that button, I just don't know how to do it without creating errors on the website? Because I have the feeling that by changing files other files get infected? - which means the website get's broken at some points, even when you repair the files back to their original state?

Thanks for everything
