No call to parent::update in update method of Feature class

Hi,

 

I want to add a field to Feature class, but it is not updated, because update method of Feature class does not call update method of its parent (ObjectModel), so fields in feature table are not updated, and only features in feature_lang table are updated. Is this intentional And why?
