How to intercept order confirmation to add custom code?

Hi all,
my question is about Prestashop hooks.
When an order is confirmed I should read the articles of this order and, according to the value of an attribute of each article, I should register the article in another place using a customized module.

Now, according to you, where is the best place to do this?
Should I use an hook? Which one?

Is it right to use the orderConfirmation hook?

Writing a module linked to that hook how can I retrieve the credit card data?

Any suggestions?
