Issues creating a custom product with many combinations

Hi, we've been developing a custom product page, but we're having serious issues when we add more than, let's say, 20 combinations. Our front-end works smoothly, but not the backend.

 

For instance, the custom product has 4 customizable parts. Those parts can have about 10 different colors. 

 

When we use the combination maker, Prestashop exceeds the maximum execution time, and it crashes. Also, it's impossible to check pricings or anything else in the Product menu.

 

We've tried to increase PHP's memory limits, MySQL limits, pushing it up hardly, but the combination maker takes an impossible amount of time.

 

Anyone has ideas if our approach is wrong? Perhaps we should override and create a totally different custom product management in the backoffice?
