"New Messages" on Dashboard not opening.

Hello guys,

 

For the past 4 weeks I've experienced a problem with prestashop.

 

It says that I have 2 new messages. When I click on it I am not able to access the messages area.

 

It just remains loading until it times out, about a minute afterwards. 

 

Would love to get your ideas on whats going on.

 

Btw I recently updated prestashop to 1.6.1.6 and still have same error.
