Price issue with Rich Snippets Prestashop 1.4.10

Hi,

 

I have an warnings being given by the Google Rich Snippets test tool.

 

The test tool is giving two warnings for the price/currency.

 

Here are the warnings

 

price

£69.99 (The property £69.99 is not a valid price specification. Learn more abouthttp://schema.org/price.)

 

and

priceCurrency

The priceCurrency field is recommended. Please provide a value if available.

 

I have googled this and there was a guide written in 2012 to sort this problem, but I have tried to edit the files suggested and this changes the problems from the above 2 warnings, to 2 errors.

 

Can somebody please help me.

 

I have attached the images from the test tool and a screen shot from the guide written in 2012, but as stated above, this hasnt fixed the problem, if anything made it worse.

 

I have copied back the two original files, so the changed suggested in the 2012 guide are no longer inserted into the two files.

The problem is in this line of code

<span id="our_price_display" itemprop="price" class="price">{convertPrice price=$productPrice}</span>

This will display the price including the currency symbol, for example $40.00

 

Google does not want the currency symbol in the price, so one thought is to remove itemprop="price" from that line

<span id="our_price_display" class="price">{convertPrice price=$productPrice}</span>

And instead use meta tags to provide the price and currency separately.  Something like this....

<meta itemprop="price" content="{$productPrice}" />
<meta itemprop="priceCurrency" content="{$currency->iso_code}" />
