ubv
Hi, we're developing a shop in the cloud at the moment and have just seen that there's going to be an update and that the template we're working on is not going to be suitable after the update. Is there a way of testing the new classic template in the cloud version of Prestashop? Also, does anyone know if the cloud version automatically updates or how long we might have to update? Thank you!
vekia
at the moment it is not possible prestashop 1.7 is still under development (at the moment it's beta version)
ubv
Thanks for the answer. That's a shame, I'd be good if we could test a cloud version of it.
Vincent Beudez
Hi, The 1.7 version won't be available on the Cloud before a long time. If you need to run your online business soon, I would advice you to do on the 1.6.1.6, but more on the download version. If you can wait a few months, maybe you can try on 1.7 version (you already can test it with the beta 2 version, on our website). But as the Cloud is still on a "old" version of Prestashop, I would not advice to run a true business anymore on it, whereas we improve a lot of things on the 1.
ubv
Thank you for the answer. Can you please clarify a couple of things for us: 1. You advise that we should use the download version, for what reason? Is the cloud version being discontinued? 2. Will the cloud version ever be updated? We currently run 1.6.1.3 in the coud version, but the download version is already at 1.6.1.6. Will we receive these updates? 3. For what reason(s) should we not run a true business on 1.6 Prestashop Cloud? We have been working on our website for a while, and it is a shocking thing to hear. We would be very grateful if you could clarify what you mean. Thank you!
jasonbsmith
There are ones of us that would like to be more involved in the Beta process, but the time commitment to setup and install 1.7 on our own robs of the time we could spend actually evaluating the beta. A cloud version (not for a live store) but for evaluation purposes would allow many more to participate in the beta program and hopefully produce a much better final product. selectshop.at
@jasonbsmith - Prestashop 1.7. is like Prestashop 1.7. no time intensive. It's the same process. The only: you need, and this also for other Prestashop versions when they came out in the past, to have a server on which the min. requirements are fulfilled. Do you think that the install process is complicated for 1.6. ?
