Merchant
Go to the admin backend, Preferences.Choose Enable SSL. Verify before if your hoster does support SSLThe easyst way is to place the whole shop in the SSL folder.
adamb
The easyst way is to place the whole shop in the SSL folder. Would that be the entire shop minus the /install directory?
Merchant
Yes, because you have to delete the install directory before using the shop.
adamb
Does this mean everytime you make a change to the shop, you also have to copy the changes to the https folder?
Merchant
In case of having the whole shop in the SSL directory is the answer no, otherwise yes
adamb
I've copied the whole folder across to the httpsdocs folder. Now when I go to login or checkout I get a complete blank screen with no error message. Not sure what to do about this.

Merchant
No problem,The shop is installed in a sub directory and not in the root, this causes the problem. For so far i know there is still no solution for this (old) problem. When you install the shop in the root you will see that everything is working.Does your hosting provide the possibility installing SSL in a particular directory, or can you enable SSL for the whole site? adamb
When you install the shop in the root you will see that everything is working. I will give that a shot.Does your hosting provide the possibility installing SSL in a particular directory, or can you enable SSL for the whole site? I don't know off the top of my head, I'll email them and ask. Supposing that both things are possible, would that allow the site to work in the /shop directory as it is setup now? And how would this be done?
Merchant
If it is possible than has it only affect on your shop when SSL is requested. The rest of your site will be remain normal.
adamb
I'll ask my host about this. In the meantime, I'll move site to root directory. Thanks for your help.
Guest
You don't have to move files from the installation location, simply install the ssl cert and unable it from BO...
adamb
I moved my site from /shop to / (on my server I think root is /httpdocs, does this make a difference. I also moved copied the same files to /httpsdocs)I still get blank screen as before when trying to login or anything. Any ideas?
Guest
Did you read my awnser, YOU DON'T HAVE TO MOVE FILES FROM INITIAL INSTALLATION FOLDER... The ssl cert must be only installed server side and tweak it from PS BO...
Paul C
I've seen this configuration before take-dat, where the actual directories are different for http and https. It may be possible to link them though and in effect have both being the same directory..... seems messed up to me to have two sets of code that you could inadvertently leave something insecure in...Paul
adamb
SSL cert is installed and I enabled it through Prestashop back office. Still no success. Are there other ways to tweak it?Edit: I also just messed something up in the back office just a minute so I'm having to re-install it all. adamb
I’ve seen this configuration before take-dat, where the actual directories are different for http and https. It may be possible to link them though and in effect have both being the same directory Otherwise it won't work?Basically I have a /root folder, and inside that there is an /httpdocs and /httpsdocs.What I tried to do (maybe stupidly) is install prestashop to /httpdocs, and then copy the installed files across to /httpsdocs, but this hasn't worked. Is this actually the right way to it?Also, I have an SSL cert installed on my server and linked to my domain (game-supply.co.uk). This seems to be picked up by prestashop when it goes to https://www.game-supply.co.ukDo you have an IRC support room at all. If you prefer to use forums so that problems are dealt with publically, I'll happily post up any solutions.EDIT: Host has moved HTTPDOCS and HTTPSDOCS to one location, site now works.
