Can't access install page says I need authorization to access? please help

Ok well I'm almost certain I put everything in the correct place then I go to install using

www.mydomainname.com/database/prestashop/admin (or sometimes install in place of admin)

and just as its about to take me to the install page I get this message

the server @ www.mydomainname.com at user backups requires a username and password

warning this site is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection)

It pops up with a login page and I try every set of login info associated with my site still nothing works...what am I missing here

a friend of mine said he never ran into this problem so I'm wondering where I am going wrong

I would imagine that the subfolder you have placed prestashop in is password protected by a .htaccess file, also your path seems strange with the database folder in it
