Only Partial Translation in Greek

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone...

After long last, I managed to deliver this web-site: e-medistore.gr which is supposed to be in Greek only.

As you can see, you still get some English on the front page, though most of it has been replaced by Greek.

  • I went to ->Localization and everything (Greek) seems to be in place.
  • Then I downloaded the Greek file from the languages folder in the prestashop directory to check on my pc and it's just the same. It's all good.
  • I then downloaded the entire "modules" folder from the theme directory to check every translations file individually and saw that there is no Greek in there at all. But, even though I added and replaced as much as I could (it's a lot) and paid extra care to "more" and "add to cart".... it's still there, on the front page... in your face. I created new el.php files and on desperate attempt, I even replaced some Greek in the en.php files.

You don't even get a language option when you visit the web-site, it should all be in Greek only...

So... does anyone have any idea where to look for the right files or options I might have missed in BO?

Thanks in advance!

JP

Hey JP, nice work!  A labor of love.

I have seen this issue and responded 'more' than once.  What can happen is if we xlate and choose theme and not core.  The xlation files get put in themes/yourtheme/modules/your_modules, and  I'm little fuzzy today on explain...but as you have already spilled blood looking at this then looking at core vs theme you may find the answer.  (tip in theme rename xlation by prefix with _ then clear ps cache)...hopefully this give you ideas to finish hard work.

" in theme rename xlation by prefix with _ then..."

This is my first ever prestashop project, so I am not that familiar with what you are talking about. I don't want to make any bad moves and damage anything... so could anyone be a bit more detailed in ... where do I find this... "xlation" (I don't even know what that is, by the way).... what do I not click while I am messing around ?

Can you tell us specifically which translation you have done that is not displaying?

Tip: back  office-->advanced parms-->performance, scroll down and disable minify, this way when you look at content you can 'view source' (right click page view source), there content is surrounded by block names, i.e. block language, block bestseller, etc..

Then if we have idea of which translation is not working we can be more specific on how to debug.

For example,

<!-- Block languages module -->

code

<!-- /Block languages module -->

I am sorry.... I just ..... I opened the site to "view source" and it's now in Greek.... I think most of my translating worked but "cache" didn't refresh in time.

I am really sorry to bother everyone... I am just gonna keep doing the same thing, until it's all of it in Greek (eventually).

A big sorry for wasting everyones' time!

We all need sometimes someone to hold our hands, keep up the good work.  Please return to forum to help others with your experience.
