need to chmod 777 -R to presta .. is it secure

I am new with this, I have just install prestashop on FC12, I need to chmod 777 -R /var/www/html/presta otherwise it would not be accessible..

is it normal?

is it secure?

No, it is not secure. It is better to use chmod 755 for directories and chmod 644 for files. That's what I use on my site. If Prestashop doesn't work for you with these permissions, I suggest changing to a server that does.
