jp.binaural
Hi, starting a new topic on this as I felt it will help more. This is what happened. I completely finished and had fully functional this site: http://e-medistore.gr/ You could practically use it, buy stuff, get it delivered.. it was finished and had over 400 products at your disposal. However, bank wire didn't show up on the payment options and after I checked over and over again everything, I used Live Editor to see if it shows up there and... it did! So being on the "Payment" page, I deleted the "main slide show block", which for some reason also showed up there, while it's not really present on the published version (only on the home page), to make some space for the "bank wire block", to move up and be visible. That's all I did. I just deleted the "main slide show block" from the payments page. Nothing more. With doing so.... The entire shop is gone. Over 400 products are nowhere to be found (still in the data base in BO).. You only get header and footer on screen. Top menu doesn't work... It has 30-40 sub-menu options there but.... it doesn't do anything. In fact, nothing really works. When you click something, it loads the new page but nothing changes on screen. Live editor will not work anymore, I get an error message every time I "save", after that first one that messed up the entire shop. When I go back to BO, everything seems to be in order. Positions of block are set correctly... all the options and settings are unchanged, but it's like... the published version doesn't know about it. At the end of the day, really, BO should be ok, because I didn't change anything there, only this one thing in the Live Editor. Also, I changed back and forth to the default theme and the one we purchased for the shop... Nothing changes, so it's obvious that it's not a theme issue. It looks more like, a css/js problem, it looks like the Live Editor overwrote a rather important file, but i have absolutely no idea where to look and of course, how to fix it. Before the "accident", the web-site looked exactly like this: http://www.templatemonster.com/demo/52915.html Only, fully functional, with the actual content in it... working 100% (apart from bank wire). I hope all this helps. If anyone can think of way out of it, I would deeply appreciate. .....please help... please! El Patron
I see now you have recovered some or all....make sure you are doing daily back up's or when you are about to make a 'significant' change back up files/db. Also ensure that you have perfect backup restore plan. Then you can make changes with confidence knowing if you break it you can easily restore. jp.binaural
Obviously, I'll back up the f@ck out of it, once it's running properly again.... After I kill the owner of the server who couldn't bother to click on "enable automatic backup" in cpanel.
