PrestaShop should include Paypal integration free

sounds

Recommended Posts

I think one of the most, if not the most important payment processors Paypal should be included free in PrestaShop.

Considering that Paypal is used by millions world-wide to process their online transactions.

And the only way to get that with PrestaShop is pay someone nearly 200$ that's disgraceful.

But only for UK sellers. I think just about everyone else gets it for free!!

And actually that $200 module - I don't think it allows customers to pay by PayPal, just to pay by card which is linked to your paypal account!

Either way they have some cheek charging 200 for somethign that's free in most other platforms.

And presta developers just allow it.

But that is my point. And sorry, but I jsut want to make sure any readers do not purchase that module expecting their customers to be able to pay with PayPal. They can't. They are NOT charging 200 because that module is not for customers to pay with PayPal. There is currently NO official module, paid or otherwise, that will allow UK sellers to take customer payments using the customer paypal account :(

Of course this is new. We have used a free official module for years. It will stop working in June when PayPal introduce a new security system and the module then will no longer work. And as far as I can tell is being updated for everyone apart from UK sellers

I have asked prestashop, paypal and the module devs but no answers are forthcoming!

The Paypal "Europe" module was already updated to support the security changes made by Paypal.  You can install that module and test it in the Paypal sandbox to confirm.

There are also posts on the forum that will allow you to bypass the country restrictions, and install it on stores 'outside' of Europe.  My geography may be a little weak, but I thought the UK was part of Europe anyway?

I have seen reports that the "bypass" does not work. But more to the point UK sellers should not be singled out in this way. Can we really expect shop owners many (most?) of whom are not programmers, developers, IT gurus, to have to jump through hoops. They won't / can't.

All they want is to be able to sell and allow their customers to pay via PayPal

Most of the world gets this functionality for free - leaving Uk sellers having to source unofficial modules and pay.

Now, I have no objection to paying, I have bought many modules for our shops. It is a principle here. This used to be offered free by Prestashop (I know it is developed by 202ecommerce, but in the back office it says official by prestashop) leaving existing users up the creek without a paddle.

@Dh42

Wow, thanks for the insight. And thanks for the module I will test it. Just to let you know though, the link to the module in your blog takes us to an empty cart, not the module

I just do a google search for "prestashop paypal europe" and it gives a link

http://addons.prestashop.com/en/1748-paypal.html

The "nevermind" was about your use of the word disabled.  The module is not disabled on the addons store, it is just 'hidden' from certain countries like the USA.

However I understood your use of the word disabled as it relates to merchants trying to use it...

@bellini,

Yeah, if you download the module and look at the classes/AuthenticatePaymentMethods.php there is a function in there that disables the module for most countries now. It also disables some of the payment methods for countries too. The funny thing about it is it is referenced by isCountryAPAC or in other words is country a paid advertising country.
