Out Of Stock-Alternative Stock Management

Hi there,

 

Looking for a way to manage product availability and wondered if an addon existed that would suit.

 

The function I need is as follows:

 

Product A is created and available for sale with qty of say 5

 

Product B is created but set to unavailable but has a qty of say 20

 

Product B needs to be linked to Product A as a "backup" or alternative product, so that when A sells out, product B automatically becomes enabled.

 

Additionally, need a function that displays a link to an external site if a Product is sold out, and does not have an "Alternative or backup" product available to enable.

 

I imagine the logic would be something like:

 

Product A qty has reached zero, disable the product, check if Product A has "backup/alternative" Product configured, if yes enable backup product, if no then check if Product A has external link configured, if yes display it, if no nothing else to do.

 

Can anyone recommend an addon that does any part of that or similar or can be rewritten to achieve that?

This sounds more like a custom job. I doubt there's a similar module.
