peakcity
I'm starting a food growing business. When I plant a crop, I assign a lot number to the plants in a particular location. That lot number is then used to track the crop from planting through delivery to a customer and, if needed, to execute a recall of the products. I have a farm management system for tracking the lot number while growing the crop, but once it is sold, I need a way to associate the lot number with the orders placed by customers so that I know who purchased the crops from any particular lot. When I'm fulfilling an order, how can I specify the lot numbers for the products included in that order? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. NemoPS
If you need different ones for each orders, even if they are the same product, I would try order messages. You can keep them hidden from the customer if you want
peakcity
Thanks, @tdr170 and @Nemo1 for the ideas. @tdr170, it looks to me like the reference number is fixed for all instances of a product. I need to be able to modify the number for different items. @Nemo1, I'd prefer to associate the lot numbers with individual items in the order. If we use the order message function, we'd have to type in which lot number goes with which item in the order. Since entering my initial question to the forum, I've come across the Serial Number add-in (http://addons.prestashop.com/en/21275-serial-numbers-product-key-manager.html). It looks like it will work for managing lot numbers. I can assign a number to individual items in an order and change the number for different orders. I also checked with the developer and I can re-use the same number across multiple orders. Thanks! Doc
