[SOLVED] I cannot find a definitive solution, re: category image links on homepage

I've searched the forum here for a solution, and although the topic seems to have come up, the solutions have been unclear, &/or just not worked. Nothing has solved the issue for me.

I'm using version 1.2.5.0, I've uploaded category images, which display fine when I click on that category, on the text link in the category block on the top left.

My client wants his category links on the homepage to include images, or at least have a separate block with an image for each category.

If anybody can help me, I would really appreciate it.

I am not sure what you are trying to tell here.
Do you want that all the categories will show on the home page, in the same way that subcategories do?

If so, then you should edit the index.tpl and index.php.
You have to add statements like : IF index then display subcats or something similar.

Yes, I think that would be sufficient.

Does anybody know the exact edits I need to make in these index files?

I figured out that I can put images as links on the home page, by configuring the Home Text Editor in Modules.
