Node JS vs Prestashop?

Hello everyone,

 

I'm new with Prestashop 1.7 and today when take a look with PS 1.7 I have some questions:

 

1. I hear that Prestashop 1.7 already used Node.js. But I've just take a look at the full source and wonder that where is it using for?

 

2. As I read from google when we use Node.js we will not use PHP. So this is big question for me is that why Prestashop 1.7 use Node.js together with PHP?

 

Anyone help me to clear these points above?

PrestaShop is written in PHP. Node.js is only used as a helper tool.
