HH Services Limited
Hello, I have seen prestashop comes with many installed modules. Should we delete the once that we are not using instead of leaving them there uninstalled? Do we save downloading time by doing this since the machine is not going to have to go through all of them to find the ones that we are using? Thanks
presta4you.com
Yes, you can uninstall not using modules. Probably shop will be faster.
HH Services Limited
I have about 50 and you have to do it one by one!! Also some of them does not allow you to uninstall them. Have you uninstalled all of the one that you don´t use one by one? The other ones I guess that must to be deleted from the directories... no? Thanks
presta4you.com
Don't deleting them, only uninstall. Some modules must be installing because prestashop must have some modules. Better uninstall only useless front-office module:)
HH Services Limited
I am talking about the ones that are already uninstalled, BO and front office. Should we just delete them if we are never going to install them again? I uninstalled already all analytics from BO since I rather use Google Analytics... Dh42
It really makes no difference. If a module is not installed then it will not load the code and slow down the site.
HH Services Limited
It really makes no difference. If a module is not installed then it will not load the code and slow down the site. So the server will not go inside? How does it know not to go in? Thank you.
Dh42
A short answer is that modules are structured in a very specific way. Their loading and not loading is determined by the database, so if they are disabled the database is not going to load them, so no files from them are loaded into memory.
HH Services Limited
Oh thank you so much, this was really instructive!! I remember one time that I uninstall a module called videodesk and I came to realize that a table in the database had remained after uninstallation. Would it be recommendable to doublecheck tables for those pertaining to uninstalled modules? Of course being very careful... I have just checked and everything is ok, just the time I have just mentioned I found a table that was not suppossed to be there.
shokinro
Not installed modules may affect your back office Modules tab response. Even it is not install, PrestaShop will scan and load them on that page, because it try to get the list of the modules and its status. if you really think you will never use some modules, I suggest you uninstall them and then delete them, it will make your back office Modules tab lighter and faster.
