[solved] sub domain development server

Hi,

I'm new to prestashop so please be gentle :-)

I am trying to set up a development version of a prestashop site I have inherited but am having a few issues. Our site is mysite.com I have set up the subdomain of dev.mysite.com and created a copy of the db and linked the dev site to the new db and copied all the files across to the dev site. The dev site loads, but doesn't render any images and the css and js are not loading. I also cannot access the admin for the site either.

How would I remedy these problems?

 

Any help greatly appreciated as I am under a little pressure in my new role to get this site up and running

Hi, you supposed to change in date base domain, there is a table ps_shop_url, and delete .htaccess file from your ftp, after that go to BO > Preferences > Seo&url turn off and turn on simply url.

 

You should also turn off SSL.

Hi I have changed the database domain. If I delete the .htaccess file I get  500 internal error on page load and I have no access to the back office to be able to make any changes. Any other help greatly appreciated

I cannot access the BO to make any of these changes

If you turn off and turn on simply url htaccess file shuld be regenerate and after that there is no necessery to delet it. I stil see you have enabled SSL turn it off in BO, and also clear cache in Advanced Parameters > Performance.

Why you can't? There is an error or what?

it just reloads the homepage when I try to access the BO

Could you share url to your BO?

I have the frontend all sorted out now by disabling ssl in the ps_configuration table but I cannot access the back office, it just reloads the home page. Is there somewhere other than ps_configuration table that the back office is configured?

Your admin folder in ftp is admin8899 ? You didn't change it name?

yes it is, is there somewhere in the db that verifies this?

when I set define('_PS_MODE_DEV_', true);  in the defines.inc.php  I get this error Chose Module is not a valid module name. at the bottom of the page

I think it is still because htaccess file is with old domain.

all sorted I copied the admin dir from the live site and overwrote the dev one and it worked thanks for the input
