archproject
Ok here's what I didI created an excel 2007 spreadsheet of categories and then saved it as products.csv with comma delimiter. I open the products.csv file in notepad and I REPLACE all comman with semi-colonI removed the first line since the first line is the column names (id, name, cat name etc)I saved the new file as UTF-8 from notepad. Upload the file to BO selected the file in BO and all was good and imported successfully but not the categories images. I put all the going to be images in http://www.mydomain.com/import/ (import folder was created by me)Here;s a sample of my CSV ;1;Books;Home;All Books; All Books;books; All Books;all-books;http://www.mydomain.com/imports/books.jpg ;1;Used Items;Home; All Used Items; All Used Items;used items; All Used Items;all-used-items;http://www.mydomain.com/imports/useditems.jpg ;1;Dresses;Home;All Dresses; All Dresses;dresses; All Dresses;all-dresses;http://www.mydomain.com/imports/dresses.jpg ;1;Bags;Home;All Bags; All Bags;bags; All Bags;all-bags;http://www.mydomain.com/imports/bags.jpg ;1;Coach;Bags;All Coach Bags; All Coach Bags;coach bags; All Coach Bags;all-coach-bags;http://www.mydomain.com/imports/coachbags.jpg ;1;Gucci;Bags;All Gucci Bags; All Gucci Bags;gucci bags; All Gucci Bags;all-gucci-bags;http://www.mydomain.com/imports/guccibags.jpg ;1;Used Books;Used Items; All Used Books; All Used Books;used books; All Used Books;all-used-books;http://www.mydomain.com/imports/books.jpg ;1;Romance;Used Books; All Used Romance Books; All Used Romance Books;used romance books; All Used Romance Books;all-used-romance-books;http://www.mydomain.com/imports/romancebooks.jpg Please help. After this I am going to try the product import and see how it goesEDITED : After 3-4 hours searching through the forums with different languages (translate with google translator) I have found the answer to my question. It seems that the image url column is only there if you have an existing picture uploaded already into your site specifically inot http:/www.mydomain.com/img/p (for products) c (for categories I guess). It will only recognise from the img/p directorySo I when to my img/p directory and used one example in there and it worked. The column is not to upload the pictures, it is there just to link the pictures. so I guess you still need to upload your pictures manually. I am going to do more testing and more ways to upload images. Hopefully there will be a better way to upload pictures in bulkEDITED AGAINSo here's the final solution to this bulk image import. I read THIS POSTINGYou need to put a value in the ID column for the pictures to be uploaded and aumatically thumbnail generated. Options for usagefor Hosting /home/username/imports for getting images from other sites http://domain.com/images/imagename.jpg Now I can upload as many pictures as i want .. yeaaaaa .. it took me about 24 hrs to figure out and do testing...
