Imagery Issues

All the imagery on the my new site appears as different images.

 

I want to standardize all product and category image sizes disaplyed on the site..  At the moment images are all different shapes and sizes are blurry and do not look good.

 

You can see that popular items on the homepage have all different sizes.

I have spent hours trying to get this right using image types and regenerating thumbnails to avoid having to resize images manually but this doesn't seem to have very little impact.

 

Any ideas are much appreciated.
