How To Hide A Category But Enable The Product To Be Shown In Search

Hi there,

 

I would like to keep all discontinued products in a category, but I do not wan to show it.

 

I only want the product to be shown when a customer search for it, which marked as discontinued.

 

What I just did was:

1. in catrgory, display set to NO

2. in product page, Visibility set to search only

 

howover, after all the settings, I was unable to search the item in the front.

 

Any ideas?

after the settings did you re-index your search?

 

preferences-->search-->click top right help button

Hi EI,

 

I just followed your instruction and performed indexing.

 

Meanwhile, I set the weight of reference to be 10, and the rest of them to be 0, then rebuild the indexing. 

 

However, when I search it in the front for the reference, there is no changes in the result.

Hi there,

 

I think I figured out the problem.

 

I should disable the category displayed, this would lead the search to avoid the folder. 

 

So I enable it, and rebuild the index, meanwhile not include the category in the menu.

 

That's it.
