Block Categories Not Active On Product Page

Hello all,

 

I'm working with Prestashop 1.6.1.0 and I run into the following issue:

 

When I open a category in the front office it shows a category overview on the left (because I added it to displayleftcolumn).

When I click on a subcategory it shows also the other categories.

But when I click on a product link the category block is missing.

 

Currently I have configured the category module with the option main category set to parent category.

When set to Main Category, the left column doesn't show any categories at all.

 

What should I do in order to get categories displayed all the time, even on the product detail page. This used to work in the past.
