Sell Parts Of A Product Or The Whole Thing - Best Approach?

Hi Guys,

I have a customer (author) who wants to sell his book online.

He will sell a hardcopy version of the book as one product
He also wants to sell a PDF version of the book, either in its entirety or in pieces (ie: only chapters 4 and 6 interest a customer, so he will allow them to buy just those chapters).

 

Now, I suppose the easiest way forward would just be to setup each chapter as a product and be done with it, but that feels dirty to me. Is there a way I can setup two products (hardcopy / virtual copy) and then within the virtual copy product, allow the sale of the whole thing or allow the customer to select individual chapters (parts)?

I suppose that the best option is to make different products for each chapter of the book and make a bundle for buying just in case a customer wants to buy the entire e-book.
