Paper Bliss
Hi, We've just taken over a new business and thus the website as well. It is currently using Prestashop version 1.4.3 and we would like to upgrade to the latest version. Is this a complicated process or could we do it ourselves? We have little to no experience in web design/prestashop. Website is www.paperbliss.com.au Thanks for your help! Angela

tdr170
I suggest you do not update the live site make a duplicate of the site in a sub folder and update that once your happy you can then download that copy to your hard drive and replace the original. This way if something goes wrong your site is not down or ruined altogether. There are probably modules and the theme that are not compatible with 1.6.
Simonas Invertus
If you can - hire professional. If you want to do yourself: 1) Make a copy of your files on local pc/another server. 2) Make a copy of database 3) Check if database has changes from original PS version (if it does it might cause some problems when doing the upgrade) 4) Check for core modifications and overrides. 5) Prepare the list of modules eshop is using. Check if modules have upgrades. Some modules might not work after upgrade. 6) Make one-click-upgrade of the copy. 7) At this point most likely your copy is not working. Hunt for fixes, remember everything you change (write down). 8) Upgrade the modules that you can, disable that are not working. 9) Consider getting new design. 10) Turn off your live shop. 11) Make one-click-upgrade of the shop. 12) Apply all the fixes you done on your copy. 13) Turn your shop back on. You are good to go.
