How-To? Buy X, Get Y For Free

I want to set up a promotion if a customer buys 'Item X' then 'Item Y' is automatically added to the cart.

 

In this specific case it would be a dog food bag of 30kg + a free bag of 5kg.

 

I can't figure out if this is possible directly from PS or if I need a module and which module can do that.

This can be done but not automatically you have to use cart rules.

 

Here is how.

 

Go to Price rules, cart rules and select Add new cart rule.

 

On the first page give the rule a name and Description, Generate a code, Set highlight to Yes and Partial to No.

 

Go to Conditions tab and set total available and total available for each user them select Product selection and click Product selection button

Now use the drop down and select products and click Add, a new drop down will appear click chhose and select product X here.

 

Now go to the Actions tab and set send a free gift to yes, a text area will appear, start typing the name of the free product and a list will appear were you can select the product.

 

Click save and your done with creating a voucher the customers can use to get the free y by entering the code in the shopping cart.

 

Now use something like HTMLBox  (https://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/189039-module-html-box-for-free/) a free module you can put something like, Buy 1 bag of X and get a bag of Y free, Just enter code shown on Shopping cart. (choose hook to top in configuration)

 

Now go to Shop and test it.
