brohemath
Nothing that used to work on 1.5 works on 1.6, bitpay payment module, Paylane payment module, the list goes on and on of one that do not show up in 1.6. What really is terrible is Softalicious no longer list 1.5 as an install option only 1.4 or 1.6 and 1.5 was the best, every module showed up right away and could be installed from the backend or Cpanel without programming. I have tried everything from manually putting the module folders in the root directory to trying to use Prestas Add module feature, nothing works and I am reading a lot of post saying 1.6 is a dud, I don't want to believe that but unless it can do what 1.5 use to do what else can be said. tdr170
Sorry to hear about your issues, I use and test 1.6 and have very few issues, while it is true that some modules are no longer available sometimes it is an issue with compatibility and other times the module developer has not updated to meet specs of 1.6 There is no reason that uploading a module to the modules folder would cause it to now display in the BO modules page providing you are looking in the right place. Some older modules may need to have there category name changed to display in the correct location, in this case either look in All or Other for the modules. You say you uploaded modules to the root what do you mean by that. You can always go to the downloads page at the top of the screen and then to scroll down a little and on the left click the link for previous versions, here you can download versions all the way back to the beginning of Prestashop. As for the modules you say do not work can you explain what the issue is they do not function they do not appear in the modules list. It will also benifit you to post one problem per post this will get the most answers as members can focus on one subject. So where to start? You say you uploaded modules to the root what do you mean by that. some of the payment modules have manual directions to upload and unzip them directly to the root directory of the website at Github, they then show up when you look to install modules in the backend. The module I tried to use that worked for 1.5 was bitpay payment module. when adding it on the backend of the latest 1.6 it does not show up after uploading on the very long 173 module list. According to the module support page the module has been tested for 1.6 and it is supposed to work like it used to on 1.5. I have managed to install 1.5 manually without Softaculous, (which no longer has 1.5) but it does not look like the 1.5 I used to have last year, this has all the tabs at the top instead of on the left side and it looks more like 1.4. So now I have to locate the 1.5 version all my payment modules used to work on. I just wish Softaculous installer still had 1.5 as an install option because it goes a lot faster not having to manually make your databases on the server and whatever version of 1.5 they were using was flawless with these payment modules. tdr170
No module should ever be uploaded to the root but to the modules folder, also instead of uploading use the add a module at the top of the modules page. If you upload the module it must be the unzipped folder not the actual zip file and must be in the modules folder. Lets focus on this modules appearing in module page then we will see what comes next.

Ok, that is what I am trying to do, using the upload module page, so you are saying I have to unzip the file first? that would explain why they are not showing up, it has been a while since I did this so if I missed that step my apologies for wasting your time. if I can get these modules to show up in 1.6 my life is going to be a whole lot easier today. but then there is this from the ADD Module tab: Add a new module The module must either be a Zip file (.zip) or a tarball file (.tar, .tar.gz, .tgz).The module was successfully downloaded. the module has been successfully added. Amount of modules before upload, 173 ALL, amount of modules after two ADD module uploads, 173. 1.6 just does not want to add modules, going back to 1.5 if I can find the right version. Can anyone tell me what version of presta shop this website is using? onutra.us/presta that is the one that works with all the payment modules I want to use, pretty sure it was a 1.5 version. just not sure which one. tdr170
Well not sure what to tell you I have no issues adding modules to 1.6 either uploading or installing through add a module. Can you check module folder CHMOD should be 755 right click on folder and choose properties/chmod. If you want you can PM me login to the BO and I will have a look, no since in going backwards as things always move forward and we have to adapt to those changes. If your a Windows user you should know this well you can not get support for XP and soon Vista. Prestashop is the same way no longer offers support for 1.4 and I have not checked but possible 1.5 if not now then very soon. If you know the FTP details you can PM those and I will have a look at the files as well I.m sure there is a solution. If you decide to let me have a look upload the ZIP files of the modules you want to install to the root folder not the public_html and I will see what the issue is. tdr170
I have fixed your issue its not Prestashop its the way they zipped the file it is several folders in and that is not how it works and why they want you to upload the file. However there is an issue in that the bitpay folder is inside the modules folder of the unzipped file you would need to upload just the bitpay folder to your modules folder. I tried in my 1.6.1.4 test site and same as you module would not show after adding from back office so I unzipped it and found the issue. When you unzip any module look at the structure anly upload the actual module folder not any other folder. So the unzipped folfder structure was like this: bitpay-prestashop-plugin-3b2bdb3 /modules /bitpay in this case only the Bitpay folder should be upload to the modules folder. This also does not work for adding from the BO if you unzip the zip file I povided you will see that it only has 1 folder bitpay NO NEED FOR THAT, I unzipped and recreated the zip file in the correct format to install through the Add new module from the back office. Download this file and add it as a new module as you did before and all will be well. bitpaypayment.zip Once you have this whats the next module, are you getting support

I now will be able to use latest version of 1.6 and won't have to redesign the whole shop. Could you share these with Github developers? I know if the correct formatted zips where there you will get a lot less support threads to deal with there. The support is awesome, I mean you went above and beyond fixing third party module folders and it is appreciated. And I agree with everything you said, that we need to move forward to 1.6 and not backwards, thank you for making that possible with my shops. tdr170
Well believe it or not I did just that, here is the return mail from PayPal. Hi Tod!Thanks for taking the time to let us know. It's that when you download files from GitHub they get zipped (that's sort of beyond us). But teh original files that we uploaded on GitHub consist of a zip file in itself. So actually, you are right, I guess it would make sense to make it clearer in the manual;)Anyways, thanks again!Best,Kasia Katarzyna BogusławskaAccount ManagerPayLane

Best, Kasia Katarzyna Bogusławska Account Manager PayLane I must say I have read a lot of bad things about 1.6 and people getting upset. but if anyone has ever done an SSL upgrade on a website already programmed in Presta 1.4 or 1.5 and remembers all the logo and picture problems and the manual adjustments you had to make to the .htaccess. files they are going to love 1.6 going from http to https is a breeze! thanks for all the help again!
