Job: Individual Products Shipping In Multiple Boxes

We need to have a module that can calculate live rates for individual products that ship in multiple boxes and also products that ship by themselves. 

 

Example: Shopping cart contains:

 

1 each - Product A 

1 each- Product B

5 each - Product C

1 each - Product D

 

product A - 35lbs Dimensions 48" x 24" x 24" - this ships by itself

product B - 60lbs total Box 1: 35lbs Dimensions 30" x 30" x 30" Box 2: 25 lbs 24" x 24" x24" both ship separately 

product C - 1lb each dimensions 3" x 3" x 3"

product D - 2lbs dimensions 6" x 2" x 1"

product E - 55lbs dimensions 20" x 10" x 10" - ships by itself

 

 The final shipment would consist of 5 boxes, products C & D can be combined and go into an appropriate sized box.

This is not a simple task, but with proper limit conditions and a carefully designed rule system it can be done.

I am interested to develop this kind of module. It will require a lot of effective and honest communications and a well crafted set of requirements.
