Permissions Error On Tranlations

Recommended Posts

I'm setting up a shop in two languages (English and Dutch). Most pages are OK, but the front office is not translated at all. When I click the update language button I get an error The server does not have permissions for writing. Please check rights for /home/.../shop/translations

I checked permissions (even set them again), all are 755 an 644. When I manually add a translation in front office it works just fine. But there are 800 lines to translate and it feels a bit silly to do this since the Dutch translation file is 100% complete...

I have 1.6.1.4 installed.and use the minimal_16_theme.

Any insights?

Update: I did the 'unthinkable' and set the permissions to 777 and 666. Now the update language does not give en error, but nothing changed. Translations I changed manually are still in place and front office is still 800 translations short...

Have you tried clearing the smarty cache?

Also consider just for test to give all your store 777. Then if it works correctly that way, revert back to safe permissions and look into setting your php and webserver (apache, nginx) owner and group in such a way that you don't have permission issues anymore.
