Set Default Value For Searchbox In Default Template

Hi community,

 

I am trying to set a default value for my searchbox (using default template Prestashop 1.6.x)

 

Basically, what I'd like to achieve is following HTML-text:

<input type="text" name="search_query" value="Search...">

I was trying to solve my issue by manipulation blocksearch.tpl but unfortunately unsuccessful.

 

I am looking forward reading your tips

you want to do it in right way but i suppose that you altering wrong file

alter theme file: /themes/YOUR-THEME/modules/blocksearch/blocksearch.tpl

 

after you will change the .tpl file - clear shop cache

But unfortunately, it still does not work (I cleared the cache..)

 

in the HTML (F12) value element is still empty

do you use standard block search module ? you use search block that appears on top, or inside block top menu?
