HH Services Limited
After using one click upgrade to go from ps 1.6.0.6 to the lastest, my Ps goes slightly slower. The change is slight, but due to the improvements done and the fact that the new Ps is promised to go faster, I am thinking that the one click upgrade is the reason why my shop has not only not improved its downloading speed, but it has gone to a bit worse after using the one click upgrade. I have done several one click upgrades at different times during the last few months and I always get the same result... I see after this no reason to upgrade... I m using default theme and after the upgrade is done I get 252 tables in the database instead of 242 on the old one. I also get more files and folders.... Has anyone had the same issue? bellini13
I compared PS v1.6.0.6 database tables to PS v1.6.1.3 and the only new tables are below. That is 8 new tables, not 10. So I don't know where you get 2 other tables from, perhaps you have custom modules installed that also were upgraded and provided 2 new tables. CREATE TABLE `PREFIX_smarty_cache` ( CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `PREFIX_order_slip_detail_tax` ( CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `PREFIX_mail` ( CREATE TABLE `PREFIX_smarty_lazy_cache` ( CREATE TABLE `PREFIX_smarty_last_flush` ( CREATE TABLE `PREFIX_modules_perfs` ( CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `PREFIX_cms_role` ( CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `PREFIX_cms_role_lang` ( As for speed, that degraded significantly after PS v1.6.0.9 based on the changes they introduced. Being you upgraded from PS v1.6.0.6, I would not expect you to realize any improvements on performance. Also note, most of the 'speed improvements' that were discussed are in regards to the back office when saving/editing products. These performance issues did not occur on all stores, so it may not even apply to you. Lastly, with new software come new features, and new features generally 'cost' something. So it also does not overly surprise me if your store is now taking a bit more time to perform something. You say a 'bit', so I don't know if that means milliseconds, a couple of seconds, or 20 seconds... that is too vague to have any meaningful discussion. You also say you believe one click upgrade has caused this. Well, install a fresh/clean version of PS v1.6.1.3 on your server in a subfolder and test things out. You have to factor that you may have custom modules or themes installed which could introduce performance issues

Based on this why to upgrade? I do not see any other benefit, being downloading speed on the customers´ side the most important factor. The rest works the same... I assume you have read the change log for each release between PS v1.6.0.6 and 1.6.1.3 and don't need any of the changes that were made? With all that has changed, I don't think one can conclude that "the rest works the same", but perhaps the features that have been changed and/or fixed do not apply to the features that you use. You also don't seem to care that there are 2 additional database tables added to your store that are not core additions. Nor have you addressed that you might be using custom modules or themes that could be causing the sub-second increase in speed.

I am using fefault bootstrap and 18 modules for which only 2 were downloaded outside of prestashop.com. Obviously modules slow down things, but in my case ps1.6.0.6 performs better than the latest ps. I have tried different one click upgrades and I always get the same results. My conclusion is that all the things that are mentioned in the logs are not practical in my case. Maybe in the future things change, but for now... I had talked to 2 people before that were having the same issue than me, so I am not the only one on this one. I was hoping to learn anything that I dont know in this post which I think that it will apply also to many others, or perhaps learning about different experiences, but I haven´t. Well.. at least I learned from you that after PS v1.6.0.9 speed was degraded considerably... This one I dont understand since speed is a major issue and if no other changes can be noticed then I am right that to upgrade is not a good option for me and for many others now... No? bellini13
I had stated that the speed degrade was mostly in the back office, and that the performance 'fixes' were really for that. I also stated that perhaps you should install a fresh copy of PS v1.6.1.3 (not just an upgraded store) so that you can compare the performance of a clean install versus your custom upgraded store. Perhaps the entire conversation is moot (not necessary) if the changes between the 2 versions do not affect you. If that holds true, then I'm not sure what we are having the discussion for. The issue is about the one click upgrade and realizing that in my case and at least in 2 others, ps loses performance... installing prestashop takes about 15-30 minutes, the goal being to show that PS v1.6.1.3 is slower than PS v1.6.0.6 you're making a conclusion that a process to upgrade your store caused it's performance to degrade by sub-seconds. I argue that it is more likely that new features added to Prestashop over the course of 11 new versions have caused it to slow down. in addition to the customization's that you have applied in the way of custom modules and or a theme. I don't argue that you don't want to upgrade, why would you if there is no benefit to it. that is your decision to make, you don't need the community to make it for you but to claim that an "upgrade module" caused your store to "slow down" without performing these other types of analysis is just fact-less opinion and speculation, and I don't see how that is helpful

Otherwise it just takes too much work. The one click upgrade option should be the thing if I would have seen any progress in my particular case, but I haven´t. I had raised this issue before ( I have tried several one click upgrades, obtaining always the same results: loss of speed and no other advantages that I can use). If more people have the same issue that I am facing then it could be a reference for others to think it twice before upgrading their shops (helping the community) or maybe we can learn something new as to correct something or anything which it seems it is not the case. In any case, just trying to be helpful to others and to myself.
