UK Prestashop owners - Please PM me postal setup?

Recommended Posts

Hi all you UK based prestashop owners.

I need your help.

Please could you get in touch with me through pm or reply to this post. We need to know exactly how you have setup your regional delivery charging options.

We post using DHL, City Link and Royal Mail. We only ship to UK Mainland at a reasonable postage rate, but when we some times have to post to the Islands, northern Ireland and certain post codes - see below:

"The following postcode regions are classed as Highland or Islands – PA, IV, ZE, KW
Postcodes AB, PH and PA are standard Scotland (UK Mainland) however, some postcodes here are classed as remote therefore, some timed services are not valid here."

We could save some serious money here by not allowing postage to the regions where it costs £13 (DHL) and £38 (City Link) just to deliver an item.

How is the best way to turn away customers by enforcing carrier system that will not allow the customer to purchase and item if it will cost us too much?

Please could someone shed some light on this?

If anyone has a good setup - please share this...

If you only ship to the UK i think it would be quite easy to set up, using zones,

Give me a couple of day or so and i will set up a test on a devlopment server,

I think you will only be able to do it at a UK county level not postcode, but this would remove the BT, JE and GU postcodes, highlands would be slightly akward

regards

Second thought zones would not work, but you could create new countries, instead of just relying on the default UK, you could set up, UK - Northern Ireland, Uk - Highlands and Channel Isles as new Countrys then you could rename the countries drop down to Uk zones, after that it would be possible to set seperate shipping rates for each zone, taking it further, you could populate the uk zones with the correct countys

thats a few random thoughts, I am based in the UK but 99% of my items are small and light so we use royal mail and do not hit this problem,
