Seo Impact When Changing Product Category Or Category Name

Hi,

 

What is the SEO impact when i move a Product from Category A to Category B

or

When I Rename the Category name from Category A to Category B

 

I mean when Google has already indexed this product i think the product url is no longer valid, is this correct ?

 

What can i do about it ?

It will de-index the product from Google if you are displaying the category name in the url. Your best bet would be to add a manual redirection in the htaccess file.

You can use a simple 301 redirect like 

 

301 Redirect /461-old-product.html  http://site.com/567-new-product.html
