tommyHK
Hello, I am running a site with 1.4.8 that runs with no issues. I have made a test site in a subfolder called mydomain.com/test/ and everything works fine, I have now the live site runing properly and the test site also running ok with a different test-database, but in manteinance mode. I can do the 1-click upgrade, and all the pre-requisits are green checks so I can just push "upgrade prestashop now" and see what happens. My question is: should I upload directly (as the module is showing me by default) from 1.4.8.2 to 1.6.1 (stable) ? or should I go into "expert mode" (in the auto-upgrade module) and go slowly version by version? Needless to say I already have a full backup of everything. I have to install a new theme that works only in 1.6.0 upwards so I have to do this uprgade, and I am really tempted to push teh button and go directly to 1.6.1. thanks. bellini13
I would attempt the full upgrade to the latest version on your test store. the worst thing that happens is that it fails and you have to restore the test site and try again. having the php memory and max execution time settings too low are the likely culprits that would cause the upgrade to fail. more so if you are running on a shared hosting environment. if you are running on a dedicated server where you have more control over those settings, then you have a better chance for success here
tommyHK
thanks, I am in a shared hosting (bluehost), it's been really reliable so far. can you pls tell me what would be good settings for the php memory and max execution time? I'll check if that's ok. bellini13
there is no one size fits all answer here, it all depends on your server specifications and your store itself. just have to try something, and if it doesn't work, try higher settings
