Product Image Centering

I have some product pictures that are portrait and some landscape, when they display in the product listing pages it looks awful as the price/add to basket is in different places, the landscape ones being shorter means they are higher up so when you have different ones next to each other is looks really bad (see the attached image).

I assumed as the product image was 250 x 250 it would centre it in a box 250 x 250 with centring all around, the smaller portrait ones appears to do just that but the bigger landscape ones does not centre top to bottom.

 

Anyone tell me what I am missing ?
