Help using "pack" feature

Recommended Posts

I've already touched base on this topic before in another thread but didn't dive into setting up my catalog until now

Ok, say I have:

Item: A
Quantity: 10

Item: B
Quantity: 5

Now, I set up

"Pack" C - contains 1x Item A, 1x Item B

Why in the hell does C carry its own quantity and not rely on available quantities of A and B? In practice it is NOT an item in your catalog, but a combination of items and there should therefor be 5 available since there is only 5 of item B, and furthermore purchasing 1 of "item" c should drop A to 9 quantity, B to 4 quantity, and in effect C to 4 quantity.

This just doesn't make sense, what the hell is the point of the "pack" feature if it doesn't do anything except the annoying pack display in the product view screen?!?!

I'm starting to find it really aggrivating how features are either completely missing or broken in this software.
Absolutely nothing is set up for american shops so go through and fix all that garbage.
No shipping calculation so I setup flat rates and will eat the cost.
No payment processing so I hack that free incomplete authorize.net module and will have to do any refunds etc. manually with the processor.
Retarded registration/checkout process, trying to simplify that.
No product/attribute ordering so I apply that ###. hack that displays the number in the cart too have to find where to fix that too.
No affiliate feature or module, so working on hacking AFA to work properly.
Inventory management that doesnt work properly.

Is there anything that just works the way it should?
