Prices keep disappearing every time i use product combination generator

I am trying to sell cables. I use the product combination generator to create prices for different color cables. I first create attribute "black: 1FT, 2FT, 3FT". I set the prices for all of these. When I create a new attributes "blue:  1FT, 2FT, 3FT" all the previous prices in the black get reset to $0. So problem is I have to do everything again if I create new attributes. Is there a way to get around this?  Thanks in advance for your help.
