Front end 404 message

Hello, 

 

I have installed prestashop_1.6.1.1 on my server and i uploaded all of my inventory/adjusted the theme on the back office successfully. However when i try to access the front end of the website, either in the path seen below, or straight in the public html folder, i get the error message below:

 

 

The requested URL /prestashop_1.6.1.1/prestashop/en/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

 

I am having a very difficult time getting this site up and i have a limited time line.

 

Please keep in mind i am not a developper. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm struggling with some parts also...

 

delete (or rename) the .htaccess file in the main directory

in the backoffice go to: Preferences > SEO & URL's

Toggle "Friendly URL's" from ON to OFF

Save settings

 

now the .htaccess file should be recreated in the main directory

 

in the backoffice go to: Preferences > SEO & URL's

Toggle "Friendly URL's" from OFF to ON

Save settings

 

all tutorials say this should help although for me it didn't
