Friendly URLs and .htaccess Error

Hi guys,

 

Really need your help here. 

 

I just inherited an old PrestaShop 1.4.10.0 version (which I can't/not allowed to update unfortunately) and after I've updated the homepage's meta description, it gave out an Internal Error.

 

I deleted the htaccess, turned off Friendly URL and its up again.

 

Problem now is, after I turn on the Friendly URL and generate a new .htaccess; it breaks everything from the front and back end. I repeat the above cycle and it's up again.

 

I've tried all combinations and it seems whenever it detects an .htaccess file it gives out an internal error. I've read everything I could on the topic to no avail. D:

i thought you were not allowed to update it?  

 

hope you have back up.

 

it might be as simple as clearing your browser  cache...

 

also when you get an error, you should enable PS debug mode before taking any action like turning on/off friendly url's etc.

BUT JUST SOLVED IT! Basically removed all the excess from the htaccess.
