Dragging product positions doesn't work

Hello PS friends

 

I am sorting by category position. I filter by category for one brand and then the position dragging thingy appears. I drag a product up to position one: nothing happens. 

 

sometimes though it does work when I drag products down but not always. It seems I have to refresh pages to be 100% sure my operation did not fail.

 

So currently I'm editing directly in the database, would be great to know how to troubleshoot this though.

Edit with more info:

The first time I filter it works, when I then drag a second product it doesn't work anymore. When I filter on another category and go back to the initial category it works the first time I drag a product, when I drag a second product it doesn't work anymore.

More info:

 

The products page in admin remembers my filter which is great. However this seems to cause an issue:

 

The url looks like this when I go back to my product list from another page in admin:

When I select another subcategory and go back to this one an extra get variable is added to the url and now it works.

anyway ... good enough for me lol
