La Tienda
Hi, I just recently downloaded a new template to my Prestashop and now when trying to configure and build it, the system error 500 has occurred. I can access the back office but not the actual page. I'm a total newbie, I don't know anything on programming or web page building and now after hours and hours of searching I've installed the ZileZilla as a FTP provider to get in touch with the root files, however it's not connecting to my server and no help. How can I get to know what is the problem? Any other FTP servers? What can I do? I saw something about deleting the .htaccess but can not find it, neither find or enter the public html page to search for the error. So I'm stuck... All help needed and appreciated!! Thank you! Bill Dalton
When you install a temple you must make sure that it matches the version of PS that you are using. You can try clearing your cache Advanced Parameters > Performance Clear Smarty cache and see if that is the problem. If that doesn't work you should try enabling your old theme. La Tienda
Thanks! I had already cleared the smarty cache, but didn't help. Anyways, I tried to enable the old (default) theme and with that it works. Will try to enable the paid theme again. Thanks!
La Tienda
Ok, with the new template the error occurs again... How can I access the FTP of my shop? FileZiIla not working, does prestahop include a FTP service? I haven't figured out any other ways for troubleshooting the problem, as I don't know how to put on the Prestashop's error reporting. Thanks! Edited November 1, 2015 by latienda (see edit history)
Bill Dalton
Ok you need to make sure the template is for your version of PS. You should be able to get that info from where you received the temple. You may also turn on error reporting by using your FTP program to edit a file in directory Config called defines.inc.php. Change define('_PS_MODE_DEV_', false); to True and save the file, you can change it back to false after testing. If you do that, you may see additional information displayed when you get the 500 error.
