RobbieBlokeToys
I thought this needed to be added to the forum considering Prestashop lists Arvixe as one of their recommended hosting providers. As some of you know, the company was bought by EIG last year. This corporation has a history of buying up smaller companies and moving all their systems to their Dallas base, and then basically providing the worst service imaginable. This is not just hearsay, there is clear and obvious evidence that within a year of buying a company EIG runs its services into the ground. This has happened time and time again with every brand the company has bought. Last month EIG fired 100 support staff from Arvixe, and moved 8 over to the EIG brand. This last week EIG began migrating all their customers over to their Dallas base, and in the process thousands of sites have gone down. Arvixe has removed their forum, removed their phone number from their site, is not answering tickets and the chat function is not available. No customer is getting any form of support from Arvixe. I have one VPS server which has been down for 5 days now, with several tickets raised and no response from the company. Hundreds of customers are now on Twiiter throwing abuse at Arvixe and demanding a response from the company, and each of them is being fobbed off by one poor person running their account, apologies and excuses are flowing, but no one is getting any results from them. Most are now leaving Arvixe the moment they have access to their data, assuming they will ever get access to their data. Rumor has it that EIG staff have lost the data of hundreds of customers and their sites in a catastrophic failure for which they had no backup in place. Prestashop needs to revise their pages and remove Arvixe as a preferred hosting provider as soon as possible. This company is still accepting orders and still taking on new business while their existing customers are apparently preparing to take legal action against Arvixe and EIG. NemoPS
Hi Robbie,I just came across the thread, and since I also write on the Arvixe blog, I asked them why this is happening. They asked if you could pm me the ticket id.
RobbieBlokeToys
Hi, The ticket was resolved 7 days after it was filed, after a week of trying to get a response and trying to resolve the issue. I am now in the process of moving all my sites away from Arvixe, as are many of their customers. This post was intended as information for those looking to host their PrestaShop site, and for PrestaShop staff too. Can I ask if PS is now reconsidering recommending Arvixe? And if not, why not? For those seeking more information, please chech Twitter under the arvixe and their arvixe support. Ignore all the spamming by them and the companies they own and look at the complaints made by hundreds of customers. They are trying to do damage control and spamming Twitter with the same "reviews" and "comparison" sites (all owned by Arvixe and EIG companies).
