Make email optional when placing order (1.5.6.2)

Recommended Posts

Hi, the owner of this shop in question says that some of his customers don't even have email. The shop allows guest checkout and he would like to allow customers to order without entering anything to that field, optionally they could enter and even register account with email.

He doesn't offer any other payment options than bill in paper form which he sends together with products. Many orders are made by phone, not even trough shopping cart.

Hmm, so it really is impossible to just place order without email? Registering with email itself isn't problem, those who have can register, but as the guest checkout is enabled it would really be easier if customer wouldn't need to enter any account info, only address information.

I know it is uncommon for customers to order something from internet and not have email, but apparently with this store this is true. Many orders have been made by simply visiting the site and placing the order via phone.

So this really should not come as a surprise to you that email address is a core part of Prestashop and many ecommerce platforms.  Unfortunately it would require changes to the core code to undo this.

You might consider altering the guest checkout process so that the email address is hidden or removed (in theme files), and then in the controller files hard-code a fake email address, or perhaps a real email address from your client that would just get purged daily.

This way every guest order created would be created under this fake address, and all emails sent by Prestashop would just go there
