Backoffice error - fresh installation of Prestashop via Softaculous on arvixe.com

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

Since problem started with my server caiman.arvixe.com on 30th September 2015 - my prestashop started having 500 Internal Server Error but only on the admin section.

I have tried many ways to solve this problem myself. Arvixe was too busy working with their server problem so I tried my best to get this problem resolved by myself.

I didn't want to mess up my shop so I have set up a new prestashop site - fresh by Softaculous. To my surprise, the newly installed prestashop has exactly the same problem!

The main shop: samakbox.com/prestasandbox

is working ok - I mean nothing wrong with the installation - if you have no access it probably due to arvixe server is not functioning again.

Here's what I did:

1. I have no access to admin section so I could not try disable/enable some features that was suggested might cause the problem. So I have tried setting

define('_PS_MODE_DEV_', true);

in config/defines.inc.php

but the error remains the same

Please see: http://samakbox.com/prestasandbox/admin123/index.php

2. I tried moving every off from public_html/ and leave just index.php with just

<?php
phpinfo
();

as suggested here: https://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/474183-unable-to-install-prestashop-due-to-500-error/

PHP Version 5.4.45

System Linux caiman.arvixe.com 3.10.90-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Oct 1 15:15:53 EDT 2015 x86_64 Build Date Oct 5 2015 14:14:02 Configure Command './configure' '--exec-prefix=/usr/local/php54' '--prefix=/usr/local/php54' '--enable-bcmath' '--enable-calendar' '--enable-dbase' '--enable-exif' '--enable-fastcgi' '--enable-ftp' '--enable-gd-native-ttf' '--enable-libxml' '--enable-magic-quotes' '--enable-mbstring' '--enable-mysqlnd' '--enable-soap' '--enable-sockets' '--enable-ucd-snmp-hack' '--enable-wddx' '--enable-zend-multibyte' '--enable-zip' '--with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs' '--with-bz2' '--with-config-file-scan-dir=/usr/local/php54/conf.d' '--with-curl=/opt/curlssl/' '--with-curlwrappers' '--with-freetype-dir=/usr' '--with-gd' '--with-gettext' '--with-imap=/opt/php_with_imap_client/' '--with-imap-ssl=/usr' '--with-jpeg-dir=/usr' '--with-kerberos' '--with-libdir=lib64' '--with-libexpat-dir=/usr' '--with-libxml-dir=/opt/xml2/' '--with-mcrypt=/opt/libmcrypt/' '--with-mhash=/opt/mhash/' '--with-mysqli=/usr/bin/mysql_config' '--with-mysql-sock=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' '--with-mysql=/usr' '--with-openssl-dir=/usr' '--with-openssl=/usr' '--with-pdo-mysql=shared' '--with-pdo-sqlite=shared,/usr' '--with-pdo-pgsql=shared' '--with-pgsql=shared,/usr/lib64/pgsql' '--with-pic' '--with-png-dir=/usr' '--with-pspell' '--with-snmp' '--with-sqlite=shared' '--with-tidy' '--with-ttf' '--with-xmlrpc' '--with-xpm-dir=/usr' '--with-xsl=/opt/xslt/' '--with-zlib' '--with-zlib-dir=/usr' '--enable-intl' Server API CGI/FastCGI Virtual Directory Support disabled Configuration File (php.ini) Path /usr/local/php54/lib Loaded Configuration File /usr/local/php54/lib/php.ini Scan this dir for additional .ini files /usr/local/

Unfortunately the problem is still unresolved by arvixe.com

See server status here: https://www.arvixe.com/alerts?key=247141-100835

Any other suggestions?

Thank you in advance,

Natee

I would download from PrestaShop 1.6.1.0 (not recommending higher version at this time).

remove all previous work.

upload and install the downloaded PrestaShop.

this will eliminate any difference in the simple install method.

Where can you findPrestaShop 1.6.1.0? I am only finding the PrestaShop 1.6.1.1. or the 1.4.11.1  I too after many reinstalls through softlious through Arvixe can't get into the back off.

I would really like to fix this my self.

Thanks for the suggestion, El.

Upload and install manually is possibly the only way that will work on arrive.com today. Which is a real shame since arvixe.com is supposed to be a managed-hosting.

Unfortunately, Softaculous system on arvixe.com has only two choices, 1.6.1.1 or 1.4.11.1

And to my surprise, after reading your suggestion, I thought downgrading might solve the problem so I tried installing 1.4.11.1

This time, the whole thing failed out of the box with error -

Link to database cannot be established.

both for front and back office.

I suggest using 1.6.1.0...

I know, El. You did. :)

But I was not prepared to work that hard and install 1.6.1.0 on arvixe.com manually.

The reason I have chosen arvixe.com (whether that was a good decision or not should belong to another post entirely! and probably a long one too.) because they suppose to be easy - having wonderful 1-click installation of many e-commerce systems - provided by Softaculous - and they all suppose to work out-of-the-box.

At the moment, nothing is working on arvixe.com for me. My main shop is pretty much dead during the past 2 week. I'm losing customer on a daily basis. The back office of the main shop is not accessible, reporting 500 internal server error - which I have tried to solve using every way I have found on this forum to no avail. This morning, partly from El's suggestion to try "down grade to 1.6.1.0", I have tried installing previous version of Prestashop via their Softaculous system, which is 1.4.11.1. - the only other version available to us. That didn't work either. With "Link to database cannot be established." error both for front and back office.

Arvixe is moving my site to a new server as we speak.

Will let you know how thing goes. Thanks again for your help.

at the end of the day, (and I'm a control freak), I prefer to install native PrestaShop myself this way I know exactly what I have.  I have seen over the years others with issues using a one click install of PS from hosting provider that created issues.

it's not very hard work to install yourself, and then during installation PS will check your server configuration and warn you of any obvious issues, priceless.

I suggest using 1.6.1.0...

i was lookig for the "1.6.1.0..." on the main prestashop and could not find it.

because i to was having issues with the one click instal which is odd i didn't have issues in the past.

But Arvixe support hooked me up and installed it for me. but still having issues getting into the back office as well.

i tried and tried to download straight from prestashop.com and coudlnt' get it to work. and i tried and tried.

ok so if i can't get this fixed or if someone else would like a link

Where can we find that El Patron ?

  • 2 weeks later...

I think you should try out the latest version of PrestaShop with PHP 5.6. PHP are you using now is 5.4.45, and I think that it should be upgraded. I myself now using version 5.6.12. Besides that, have you heard about the issues of Arvixe? I heard earlier this month they have many issues and many complains from their customer. Because before it, I was also interested in buying their hosting package, but I can not be bought because the issues. So finally I look for another solution and found asphostportal that recommended by one of the famous web reviews.
