Change Shopping Cart Attributes Order

My products each have 3 attributes in their product combinations: Color, Top Size, Bottom Size.  They are displayed correctly in that order on each product page based on the Attribute Order. However when viewing in the shopping cart (and also invoices) the attributes as part of the product description are reverting to alphabetical order and they are displayed as: Bottom Size, Color, Top Size.  Anyone know how to get them to display based on Attribute Order that I set under Catalog > Attributes and Values?  Btw, I'm still using v1.5.4.1.
