Dh42
We currently recommend 5.5 with Opcache installed.
WarrenAu
Does opcache have to be installed ? or can it be left out ?
Dh42
You can leave it out. The site will be faster with it installed though.
WarrenAu
Thanks for that. I just changed to php 5.5 and opcache was a part of that version, so all i needed to do was click the box to activate opcache, then save settings. WarrenAu
I have the standard settings for php 5.5, plus opcache and Dbase set to on. Any other setting you think may help would be appreciated ?.....
Dh42
Not really that you can do inside cpanel. I would say build the server with MPM Worker, fcgi, and Opcache. Maybe add APCu too. It all depends on what you are doing and what you need with your site. Using fcgi will create issues if you need long running scripts. On that note, if you are using suPHP or CGI you will not actually use Opcache. I would turn the handler to fcgi or DSO and the system will actually use it. WarrenAu
ok Thank you. I think I will leave as it is, thank you for the help. The site is just a standard selling site for surveillance systems, so it doesn't need anything to complex. Thanks for the information
WarrenAu
I seem to wait for the - Save & Stay / Save Buttons more than anything in that back end, any suggestions there ?
parsifal
We currently recommend 5.5 with Opcache installed. I have tested PHP 5.5 with Opcache in production (VPS, Debian 7 x64, nginx 1.8.0, PHP5-FPM 5.5.28), with no apparent problems so I can second this opinion. Dh42, have you also tested PHP 5.6 with PrestaShop? If yes, what were your findings? Thanks!
