1.6 module development documentation

The official documentation for 1.6 is extremely lacking in detail. Is there a better guide out there for learning how PS 1.6 works internally, especially for developing modules?

 

I can't even find any API documentation, no thorough examples of any functional module.

 

I'm trying to do something very basic and very simple, and after hours of reading and fiddling with code, I'm not getting anywhere fast.

 

For example, I'm creating a simple back-office override for my [spam-filter]'s online shop (not intended for redistribution). This lets you select multiple products, click a new bulk action called "Copy attributes to selected", and a form should pop up letting you select the origin product and which settings to copy to the selected products. 

 

There is nothing really useful in the documentation to help achieve much more than creating the override that adds the bulk action to the drop-down menu on the back-office products page. I have lots of experience working with MVC and I've learned how to develop with many different platforms, but none has had such a bad documentation.

 

Is there any hope?

I have the same problem as you. Documentation is really poor. What I did for hooks for example was to read 1.5 documentation because it lists all the hooks there. In 1.6 documentation there is nothing ... So disappointing.
