kozmet
Hi guys ! I'd like to draw your attention before you go to select the right hosting provider for you. Apart the advice for the right HW/SW dimensions you have to select it is really important you get from them a commitment for covering disaster recovery issues which are essential on your business continuity plan. My [spam-filter] had a very bad experience with two hosting providers which were claiming to provide also support for Prestashop issues . The issue that both hosting providers failed to resolve is the following: After the restore of backup (full backup ,files and database) the modules are disabled for mobile devices and your site will show on your mobile only the logo of the shop and a black strip underneath . That is happening at least with default theme offered by prestashop default install. I'm going to tell the story shortly ,but please be very careful with hosting providers despite their promises. First try was with siteground.com hosting provider. Sales team promised they support prestashop issues ,but when I requested to find and fix why the modules are disabled for mobile terminals after the restore of backup the answer was " We do not deal with such things ,we deal only with hosting issues !". My [spam-filter] spent a lot of time to convince them about the issue and nobody got it seriously and gave a solution. Anyhow they had a good response time. Second try was with arvixe.com. Learning some lessons from the previous provider the request to sales team of arvixe.com was clearly stated : "Do you have any special support for Prestashop issues ? " and the answer was " Yes ,we do !". My [spam-filter] requested them the same thing ,restore a backup from previous day and the same happened. The modules were disabled for mobile terminals after the restore of the database. They failed to give a solution and fix it ,but their support was terrible and comparing to siteground.com they are too far below in terms of response time and communication. I'm wandering if one of you tested the same with any hosting provider. Please don't blame me in case the same will happen and your site will not be shown correctly from mobile terminals. Kind Regards !
AhsanParwez
Sorry to hear about your experience with hosting providers. The truth is, that we should all consider is, web hosting providers do not have Prestashop developers handling the support tickets. The support staff primarily have experience of fixing hosting related issues not fix application level stuff. For that you will need a fully managed web hosting provider, that covers and fixes any bugs in the Prestashop application (that includes themes, modules and other bugs). I don't think we have a fully managed hosting for Prestashop on the market.

That is bread and butter of every hosting activity ! The restore of the backup was requested intentionally to be handled by their support in order to avoid back and forth emails claiming any change by the user. The request was simply as following : 1. Install a fresh copy of prestashop 2. create a full backup of it (files and database) 3.restore the full backup 4.test the site content from the mobile terminals. If you see only the logo of the shop and a black strip that means that modules of prestashop are disabled for mobile terminals. I'm wandering how the other people are hosting in such environments without being 100% sure that restore of the backup works 100%. This is a crucial thing even the hosting providers are claiming 99.99% availability of their services . I really appreciate if anybody here tested that restore backup exercise and share the results here. Thanks !
vekia
this is why it is worth to read terms and conditions of each hosting provider, before we decide to order the hosting :-)
kozmet
Does anybody in this forum requested to test the restore of backup from her/his hosting provider ? If yes, I'd appreciate it too much if you can share experience and/or thoughts about it. I'm really in doubt to which hosting provider I have to host my Prestashop. Thanks ! parsifal
Probably a misspell. I believe vekia means OVH and this package specifically: https://www.ovh.co.uk/solutions/prestashop/

Prestashop Cloud has severe limitations on how you can customize it. Do you have more freedom with such a "pre-installed" shop?
