Upgrade Prestashop 1.6.1.0 - 1.6.1.1

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

I have just upgraded my prestashop version from 1.6.1.0. to 1.6.1.1. I would like to know if the updates by prestashop are also about the folder theme files. I edited my theme, i have a backup, so i want to know which changes i can replace with my backup. I explain better what i mean is, i saw on the changelogs update on css and js files, so i want to know what files i can replace with my old ones, and wich one, the upgraded ones, i need to not replace, thanks. My edits are only about the default bootstrap theme of prestashop. I am also wondering if i can upload my personal theme edited by me , instead of the default bootstrap theme by prestashop. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks for the attention.

Yes, you can expect that everything Prestashop release (even the minor ones), will always change the theme.  However you do not always need to use the latest theme after you upgrade your store.

What I usually do is use file/folder comparison tool and compare the old theme and the new theme directories to see what has changed.  I can then decide which changes I need or want to incorporate.  It is usually very time consuming.

The best practice is to always document the changes that you have made to your store files, so that you can always duplicate them later.  You should also make a copy of the default theme, apply the changes, and then install the copy of the theme and enable it.  This way if you do upgrade Prestashop, you are not forced to use the new default theme.

Which file/comparison tools do you use

i use examdiff pro

If i want to upload my theme how to i zip the files wich one do i need to zip??. I already tryed to import my theme but it says bad configuration file.

its easier to export the theme from your back office.  This way it includes all the configuration settings and required modules.

Then you can just import that theme to any store.
