IE8 issue - Availability: The product does not exist in this model. Please choose another.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I use the combinations tab to create a range of sizes that customers can order for each pair of shoes.

Here is an example:
http://www.otleyrunfancydress.co.uk/product.php?id_product=285

With Firefox the option works fine but with IE8 it states that following: Availability: The product does not exist in this model. Please choose another.

Any ideas how I can solve this please?

Cheers

I posted a question earlier about adding attributes to a product. I was receiving this error when trying to ADD the product with the new attributes to my CART:

Availability: The product does not exist in this model. Please choose another.

I just found the answer to this error message. It's because I DID NOT GENERATE the new attributes.

One of the other users in the forum gave me the clue: Use the PRODUCTS COMBINATIONS GENERATOR.

Here's how to use it:

On the COMBINATIONS Tab for a product, you will see the current attributes (if any) at the bottom of the page.
Go back to the top of the page and you will also see the current available attributes that you MAY add.
If you pick the attributes you want from this page and click on ADD THIS COMBINATION, it WILL let you add them to the BOTTOM of the page ONLY.
WARNING: However if you think it has been added completely, you are WRONG.

You must GENERATE your additions. Here's how: At the top of the Combinations page you will see:
Add or modify combinations for this product - Product combinations generator

You need to click on Product combinations generator.
You will now get a message (scary in my opinion): Are you sure you want to delete entered product information?. However you DO need to CLICK on OK in order to get to the GENERATE page.

This will take you to the Attributes Generator page. You will see a GENERATE button. Click it and you should be done.

Note: The "Attributes Generator" page seems to be more user friendly when it comes to adding attributes to products. So I would suggest maybe using this page to enter all of your attributes (as opposed to adding them on the Combinations Tab). You will have to go to this page anyway in order to get to the GENERATE button.

The complete steps are in this Wiki article. http://www.prestashop.com/wiki/Attributes_and_Attribute_Groups/
You'll see what I'm referring to in the section titled:
Using the Product combinations generator

*** It seems to work fine for me when I follow these procedures. However if I have been incorrect in any way please let me know. :-)
